Restoration

Where it is appropriate Unimin Australia works to restore mine sites back to their natural state by working in partnership with local communities, wildlife groups, regulatory authorities and other bodies.

Unimin is actively involved with the international non-profit organisation Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC), which is dedicated to increasing the quality and amount of wildlife habitat on corporate, private and public lands.  In 2005, Unimin’s Port Parham site in South Australia was the first site in Australia to be certified by WHC for its efforts on wildlife habitat enhancement and conservation (www.wildlifehc.org). Unimin is currently undertaking initiatives in an effort to gain certification of its Northern Dune site in NSW.
